Open Water Scuba Instructor - OWSI

IDC Preparation

OWSI Course Koh Tao

As with most PADI programs, the IDC incorporates the home study philosophy. Independent study prior to the IDC will put you ahead of the game, so that the course itself becomes a way of reinforcing existing knowledge and consolidating it with practical exercises. Of course, being prepared will also allow you more free time during the course to experience the unique Koh Tao way of life!

We suggest you access our online tutorials and complete the Knowledge Reviews in the Instructor Candidate Workbook prior to starting the IDC.

Teaching Future Scuba Diving Instructors

IE Requirements

Prior to taking the Instructor Exam, you will need to:

  • Show proof of 100 logged dives*
  • Show proof of CPR training within the last 24 months
  • Provide a medical certificate, signed within the last six months by a licensed physician, stating you are fit for scuba diving

* Of course there isn’t much time during the IDC to log any dives, so we suggest you have your requisite 100 dives prior to the start of the IDC.
